Called "the place of the skull" An impossible debt was paid in full, Up from that hill of death arose Upon which our loving Savior chose The blood that bathed its splintered beams We could be reconciled by no other means He hung with stakes driven through His flesh, He suffered this tormenting death They mocked Him with the crown of thorns In quiet sorrow He bore all their scorns, They jeered at Him saying, "If you're God, Ten thousand angels He could've called For even in their sin He loved them; He prayed, "Father, forgive them Darkness fell; the earth shook For upon sin He could not look "My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Though nails pierced His hands and feet Jesus Christ, who knew no sin The sins of all poured out on Him Then at His words, "It is finished!" Sin's separating grip relinquished Sin and death conquered; salvation won. When in that moment His work was done His side they pierced and death assured By His punishment our peace procured Greater love hath no other To give His life our sins to cover
