(c) 2001 Holly L. Schmidtbleicher The tranquil rest of winter To spring's new life gives way This tree, once bare and lifeless seeming, Now clothed in pink array But then she sheds her flowers By the turning of the wind; Transforming of her beauty By her Creator once again. Her satin petals, now relinquished, Swirl about my head; The fragrant remnants of her glory Now blanket where I tread. Season's beauty served its purpose; A moment's calling now complete. She lets them fall unselfishly To rest beneath my feet. But new life again shall clothe her; A rich, green robe her raiment be. To bask in warm breeze and in sunlight, With unquestioning trust she's free. For she finds joy in each new season In the beauty each will bring. By just being what she's called to be, She lives in service to her King. Seasons turn: His ordained cycle; Creation, to each, abides an end, For death must come in some way, Ere new life springs forth again.
