Through our lives pass friendship's faces
Like fleeting glances in a crowd,
That come and go through times and places,
But depth, for reasons, not allowed.
Then God, in His grace, reveals to us
As we walk life's destined miles
Those special ones whom we can trust
Who bring us joy with just their smiles.
In their presence we may laugh or cry,
Our hearts openly revealed;
In joys shared or tears to dry
Friendship's contract there is sealed.
Unconditional is friendship's love,
Striving to be patient and forgive,
To reflect the heart of God above,
For through His perfect love we live.
Those precious few with whom we share
Our purposes and goals,
We may before them lay convictions bare,
Giving of hearts and minds and souls.
A gift from God is such a friend
Who will be there through life's doors,
And I feel blessed beyond no end,
For such a friendship's face is yours.
